Recently I was at a live poker tournament for the first time. I didn't do too well, I didn't make it to the paid places. But it was a great adventure. I need to improve my skills.

Try the Busuu app.

Busuu has helped me a lot in improving my Spanish. I am self-taught using this app and I can really see the progress. The grammar instructions are clear and adapted to the learning level, as is the vocabulary. The best feature is the possibility to interact with native speakers who provide useful tips. It makes the whole experience much more interesting. Additionally, Busuu provides a lot of interesting facts about the country's culture and practical phrases for everyday life, making learning more practical.

Anyone know of any language apps/sites that give text or videos in the language at a beginner reading level? I always find the problem with language learning is that they think the most important thing is to teach you all the tourist words, and then you're still helpless to understand anything resembling prose or conversation.

Try LingQ,

It allows you to learn a language through exposure to authentic materials: articles, podcasts, and even films. The app adjusts the difficulty level of the materials to your skills and allows you to create your own sets of words.

Volleyball is also a great sport. I've been to the Polish national team's matches live several times and it's a lot of fun. Although I didn't really like playing it at school. Football always came first.

Well, I wouldn't say it's unusual. It's a quite  common hobby. I used to collect an old football game tickets. This is more unusual I guess.  yess:

Try to learn how to play football (soccer) decently, even though it requires a lot of physical endurance. Anyone into it?
